Work and the environment at work are both important determinants of one’s self-esteem
and sense of fulfillment. We spend over 40 percent of our days at work, but we carry
the stress and tensions of work with us through the rest of the day. Work stress
and tensions are at times unavoidable. Over prolonged periods tensions accumulate
and eventually present as somatic problems like headache, fatigue, body pain, anxiety,
depression, high blood pressure, etc.
Our organization believes in the importance of the holistic wellbeing of our staff
and we have created an environment that promotes not only physical well being, but
mental health as well. As part of our responsibilities towards this, and in conjunction
with the activities at the Staff Recreation Center, we have introduced ‘Corporate
Yoga’ for our employees.
Yoga, besides promoting physical wellbeing and stress relief, helps one develop
a positive outlook to all aspects of life thereby ensuring mutually beneficial results;
better productivity and creativity, encouraging self discipline and motivation,
relieving anxiety and physical ailments, greater immunity and stamina.
“He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything.” ~Arabic Proverb
“When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot manifest, strength
cannot fight, wealth becomes useless, and intelligence cannot be applied.” ~ Herophilus-
Ancient Greek Physician

Why do Corporate Yoga?
|
Yoga generates energy and eradicates fatigue, leading to increased morale and productivity
– the perfect combination for any corporate environment. Corporate yoga is not just
an exercise routine or relaxation technique or a conventional stress management
course; it is a holistic approach to physical and mental health, as well as a person’s
well-being and personal growth. Yoga helps a person to become aware of the stress
that is in their lives and also gives them the skills in which to manage the stress
effectively, thereby allowing employees to be more energetic and productive.

Benefits of Corporate Yoga
|
Hatha yoga is a scientific discipline of awakening the body’s intelligence and removing
stress and tension at their source. All tension, both physical and mental, is stored
somewhere in the body and stress reduction is a matter of discovering how to release
tension on both levels. Yoga removes stress from both sources since tension in one
area has a direct effect on the other. Yoga classes offer simple, safe, and practical
techniques that quickly reduce tension and stress at any time and place, especially
the workplace.
Yoga is not just a mind/body fitness practice. It is a lifestyle and has the potential
to transform health care. Prevention is the key and yoga can play a major role.
Many employers are benefiting from reduced health insurance rates by implementing
wellness programs that include yoga.
